What type of lens to buy Canon Rebel XTi?

I recently bought a Canon Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera Lens EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens (Black) I loved the lens, but sometimes when my hands are fragile photos look so blurry. So I was wondering What kind of lens to buy my usual photos were all blurring, a flare or ghosts. I like taking pictures but I am not a professional just an amateur. with the basic lens, is it OK to start a lens? or I would have bought the whole body and I bought a lens different. I am recently new SLR so I do not know what to buy. I want to take photos with the background blurred and the subject is in focus but with this basic lens, it doesn't work due to camera shake.

If you have "shaky" hands, you may want to learn some of the techniques that the pros use to stabilize their cameras ... for the past 30 years. Basically you hold the camera to your face with your eyes looking through the viewfinder, use the left hand to hold and stabilize the lens and the right to hold the device and press slowly trigger. And always choose the highest shutter speed you can in the light you use .. if necessary, to the ISO. For good bokeh, you'll need a longer, faster lens .. If you do not have the skills mentioned above, you get movement camera over with the most objective. http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/bokeh.htm
