What is a good bait to use salt water?
I live in Florida Bay and Tampa area I fish off my dock all the time. I never had any luck with any type of lures and I'm tired of always buying Live Bait. Is anyone know of any kind of lure that works well in this kind of field? Thank you in advance!
I was raised on a fishing pier in Florida. The key to catching fish on a dock in Florida is attracting fish YOU. You must make your Dock (and near your dock) the hottest spot in region. Here's how you do that: # 1. Buy or make Your Own Chum. When you're stuck on a dock waiting for the fish come to you, a beautiful CHUM-Slick attract fish in your area and save time while fishing. Either buy CHUM already made a local bait and tackle or buy fish flavored "dry", the breadcrumbs and mix with Catfood Mud Creek, (make sure to crush Catfood within a plastic bag zipper before adding to your mud-ball). Then make softballs business and create a barrier of these balls 'Pal' around your property and the dock! To do this, at the end of low tide and by the time mid-tide comes in your dock will be the # 1 Hotspot your Creek / channel. It is important to give your time to work Chum. Do not expect to see results immed after creating your firewall CHUM. Throw them towards the end of low tide and start your fishing at mid-tide (2-3 hours later). # 2. DO NOT USE A BOTTOM RIG! Always use a plug-rig with Live shrimp, finger Mullet and mud-minnow. Fish this platform about 3 FT on the merits. Bait thieves like spots, sailors Choice, Hard Head Catfish, etc. tend to kiss the bottom. If you can keep your bait from the bottom, you'll have more luck. Buy 1 / 8 oz Jigs 1/4OZ in Chartreuse and Red colors. Berkley Gulp Saltwater Thread a Jerkshad on one of these templates. Bump it along the bottom like a live shrimp escape attempt. Place a live shrimp "tail first" on one of your templates or mule Mud-minnow/Finger by the upper lip. This is a very popular way to fish live baits. Anyway, hope this helps there?
