Floating Shad
What is the best bait for this lake?
I have not had a chance to catch fish such as bass or decent cat because I used All the worms on a regular hook all my life so I tend to keep pulling bluegills or shad great. Until now I tried plastic minnow and chartreuse spinnerbait with a little unlucky. It is a branch of a 88 mile lake here in North Carolina. The shoreline is rocky and this is where most fish bait to swim around, sometimes largemouth float through it to eat. The water is clear and 66 degrees.
No best lure. What works this week may not work next week. If you see the fish come to feed on shad and minnows good bet will be a kind of imitation shad. Rattle Traps, white spinnerbaits or Shad Color, and zoom flukes are good for those periods. Just experience with all the different baits, sizes, colors, retrieves, and techniques. You will eventually find what they want. Also be do afraid to ask people you see fishing for advice. The more you learn from experienced people the better off you'll be.
